    • The Prime Minister’s approval rating has decreased from 45% last year to 40% this year.
    • 52% disapprove of his performance in January, up from 43%. This has been driven by an increase those who strongly disapprove – up from 22% in December to 32%.
    • The PM’s approval rating among Coalition voters remains consistent with 79% approval (on par with 82% approval last month).
    • He has lost approval among Labor voters, among whom strongly disapprove has increased from 36% in December to 52%.

    Of those who take a lot/some interest in the Olympics, 53% are satisfied and 22% dissatisfied.

    Of those who think winning gold medals is very/quite important, 43% are satisfied and 32% dissatisfied with the performance of the Australian team.

    Groups with highest ratings for their response to the floods were state emergency services (88% good), the Australian people overall (85%), the Queensland State Government (78%) and the Australian military (78%).

    The Federal Government’s response was rated 48% good/15% poor/26% average while the Federal Opposition was rated 29% good/19% poor/37% average.

    The only groups with overall negative ratings were the insurance industry (53% poor/10% good) and the banks (26% poor/22% good).
