    New election

    Q.  Australia would do better to have a new election, so we can have a Government with a working majority…so it can get things done. Do you agree with that or not?

    Strongly Disagree 8%

     Those aged 55-64 (36%) and 65+ (43%) were more likely to strongly agree that there should be a new election. Those in NSW (34%) were also more likely to strongly agree that there should be a new election.  

     Lib/Nat voters were also more likely to either strongly agree (47%) or agree (32%) that there should be a new election.

     Labor voters were more likely to strongly disagree (14%) or disagree (23%) with a new election. Comments »

    59% of respondents (down 11% from 2 weeks ago) think it likely that Australia will need to have another Federal election within the next 12 months and 28% (up 12%) think it is unlikely. Labor voters are evenly divided (42% likely/42% unlikely) but 83% of Coalition voters think it is likely and only 11% unlikely.

    43% (down 9%) think that Australia should have another election in the next 12 months and 43% (up 10%) disagree. Support for another election is strongest among Liberal/National voters (75%) but other voters oppose it.

    70% of respondents think it likely that Australia will need to have another Federal election within the next 12 months and only 16% think it is unlikely.

    52% think that Australia should have another election in the next 12 months and 33% disagree. Support for another election is strongest among Liberal/National voters (65%) although all voter types are more likely to support another election than oppose it.  Women (yes 53%/no 29%) are more likely to support another election than men (50%/38%).
