    43% disapprove of the Government’s decision to re-introduce the honours of Knight and Dame of the Order of Australia, 27% approve and 30% don’t know.

    Strongest approval came from respondents aged 65+ (39%), Liberal/National voters (46%) and those with lower education levels (34% of those who had not completed secondary school).

    Strongest disapproval came from respondents aged 45-64 (54%), Labor voters (57%) and Greens voters (63%).

    There was highest support for awarding the honours of Knight and Dame to “people who have served the community” (57%), scientists (45%) and defence force chiefs (33%).

    Liberal/National voters were more likely to support awarding the honours to people who have served the community (64%), scientists (52%), defence force chiefs (44%) and business leaders (24%).

    Greens voters were more likely to support awarding the honours to scientists (55%), judges (32%) and senior public servants (24%).

    Labor voters were less likely to support awarding the honours to almost all categories.

    Interestingly, those aged 18-34 were more supportive of awarding the honours to former politicians (23%), sports stars (19%), senior public servants (30%) and judges (34%).

    The Labor Party’s main attributes were – will promise anything to win votes (63%), divided (58%), looks after the interests of working people (54%) and moderate (52%).

    Main changes since November were – divided (down 14% to 58%), clear about what they stand for (up 8% to 42%), out of touch with ordinary people (down 4% to 49%) and keeps its promises (up 4%to 30%).

    The Liberal Party’s main attributes were – will promise anything to win votes (67%), too close to the big corporate and financial interest (62%), out of touch with ordinary people (59%), have a vision for the future (53%) and clear about what they stand for (50%).

    Main changes since November were – divided (up 7% to 32%), clear about what they stand for (down 6% to 50%), extreme (down 5% to 37%), will do anything to win votes (up 4% to 67%), keeps it promises (down 4% to 35%) and moderate (down 4% to 46%).
