    Tax cuts better for the economy

    Q. Which do you think would be better for the Australian economy – company tax cuts or income tax cuts?

    61% think income tax cuts would be better for the Australian economy and 19% think company tax cuts would be better.

    Those most likely to think income tax cuts would be better for the economy were Greens voters (72%), other party voters (71%) and those aged 35-64 (67%).

    58% of Liberal/National voters think income tax cuts would be better for the economy and 27% think company tax cuts would be better.

     Labor was more likely to be selected as the party best at all of the items, except for ‘Representing the interests of the large corporate and financial interests’ (50% Liberal, 13% Labor), ‘Handling the economy overall’ (35% Liberal, 22% Labor), ‘Handling the economy in a way that best helps small business’ (36% Liberal, 23% Labor) and ‘Handling the economy in a way that best helps the middle class’ (31% Liberal, 28% Labor).

    Since this question was asked nearly 2 years ago, the main shifts have been for ‘Handling the economy in a way that best helps small business’ (8% to the Liberals), ‘Standing up for the middle class in Australia’ (7% to the Liberals) and ‘Being more concerned about the interests of working families in Australia than the rich and large business and financial interests’ (7% to the Liberals).

    The Labor Party’s main attributes were – will promise anything to win votes (62%), divided (54%), out of touch with ordinary people (53%) and looks after the interests of working people (50%).

    Since this question was asked in November, the main changes have been for moderate (down 9%), looks after the interests of working people (down 5%), understands the problems facing Australia (down 5%), extreme (up 5%) and trustworthy (down 5%).

    21% of respondents say they have been sexually harassed at work. 14% of men and 28% of women say they have been harassed.

    Those aged 35-54 were more likely to say they had been sexually harassed.

    30% of part-time workers and 22% of full-time workers say they have been sexually harassed.

    61% think that sending sexual emails always constitutes sexual harassment.46% say touching someone in a familiar way always constitutes sexual harassment. A majority believed that all listed actions always or sometimes constitutes sexual harassment.

    There was little difference between the opinions of men and women on what constitutes sexual harassment.
