There were no major changes since September last year were – divided is up 4% to 58% and trustworthy up 4% to 34%.

47% of people surveyed rated management of the economy as one of their three most important issues, followed by 46% ensuring the quality of Australia’s health system, 39% Australian jobs and protection of local industries and 30% ensuring a fair tax system.
Main changes since this question was asked in April last year – security and the war on terrorism (up 12%), ensuring a fair tax system (up 10%), managing the economy (down 7%) and political leadership (down 6%).

42% of respondents said the political party is the main influence on their vote at Federal elections – 21% say they are mostly influenced by the individual candidate and 20% by the party leader.
Those most influenced by the candidate’s political party has dropped 5% since April 2013.
Liberal/National voters (50%), Greens voters (60%), those aged 55+ (53%) and university educated (48%) were more likely to say they are influenced by the candidate’s political party.

Those most likely to think that cash will not be necessary were Greens voters (45%) and those with incomes over $1,6000 pw (43%).

29% think the Government is too soft on asylum seekers, 25% think they are too tough and 31% think they are taking the right approach. Since this question was last asked in April, those thinking the Government are too tough has increased a little from 22% to 25%.
Those most likely to think they are taking the right approach were Liberal/National voters (48%) and aged 65+ (45%).
